4th of July Cupcakes: Festive, Patriotic, and Simply Delicious!

  • Author: Kai

  • Yield: 12 cupcakes

Description

There’s something truly magical about celebrating the 4th of July with cupcakes that look as vibrant as the fireworks lighting up the night sky. These 4th of July cupcakes bring together the perfect patriotic red, white, and blue colors in every bite — a fun, festive dessert that’s just as joyful to bake as it is to share.

Ingredients

  • Unsalted butter
  • Granulated sugar
  • Large eggs (room temperature)
  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • Whole milk (room temperature)
  • Vanilla extract
  • Baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Gel food coloring (red and blue)
  • Full-fat cream cheese
  • Mascarpone cheese
  • Powdered sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Optional: Red, white, and blue food coloring and festive sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Beat the butter and sugar until fluffy and pale.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  3. Alternate adding the sifted dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, salt) and milk, beginning and ending with dry.
  4. Gently fold in baking soda and vinegar right before filling your cupcake tin.
  5. Divide batter into three bowls: leave one plain (white), dye one red, and the other blue with gel food coloring.
  6. Layer or swirl the colors in cupcake liners for a festive look.
  7. Preheat oven to 175°C (347°F) without fan and bake for about 25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Whip mascarpone, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth; avoid overmixing.
  9. Pipe red and blue frosting side by side with a Wilton 1M nozzle, add sprinkles or firework picks for flair.
  10. Let cupcakes cool completely before frosting; store in a cool place or fridge if hot.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for smooth batter. To avoid color bleeding, swirl colors gently or pipe layers. Fully cool cupcakes before frosting to prevent melting. Store chilled and transport in a cupcake carrier for best results.
