Description

Golden, crisp, and coated in cinnamon sugar, these Air Fryer Churro Bites bring the joy of fairground churros right into your kitchen with less oil and no mess.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup water

1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

1 teaspoon salt

2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla essence

1 large egg

1 cup white sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon cinnamon powder (for coating)

Instructions

1. Heat water, butter, salt, and sugar in a saucepan until boiling, then reduce heat and stir in flour until dough forms.

2. Remove from heat and let the dough cool for about 4–5 minutes.

3. Add egg and vanilla to the dough and beat until smooth.

4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F and lightly grease the basket.

5. Pipe small bite-sized pieces of dough into the basket or use a spoon to form shapes.

6. Lightly brush with melted butter and air fry for 10–12 minutes until golden brown.

7. Combine sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and toss the warm churro bites in the mixture.

8. If the coating doesn’t stick well, brush bites with a little more butter or spray before tossing.

9. Serve warm with optional dipping sauces like chocolate, honey, or Nutella.

Yields about 36 churro bites

Let dough cool slightly before adding the egg to prevent scrambling

Bread flour can be used instead of all-purpose; whole wheat flour will make them denser

Reduce added salt if using salted butter

Vanilla or almond extract can be used for flavor

To bake instead of air fry, use a 400°F oven for 15–18 minutes

Best eaten warm and fresh; reheat briefly in air fryer if needed

Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days

Dough can be refrigerated up to 24 hours before cooking
