A cozy layered dessert with spiced roasted apples, cinnamon cream, and buttery golden streusel. This make-ahead treat serves 4–6 people and is perfect for family gatherings or simple sweet cravings.

Ingredients

Scale

80 g soft butter

125 g flour

40 g sugar

1 packet bourbon vanilla sugar

Optional: cinnamon

**Apple Compote:**

3 apples (Boskoop, Elstar, or Braeburn)

Juice of 1 lemon

1 cinnamon stick

1 star anise

100 ml orange juice

1 drop bitter almond oil

23 tbsp brown sugar (adjust to apple sweetness)

**Cinnamon Cream:**

250 g quark (20%)

200 ml whipping cream

50 g powdered sugar

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp vanilla paste or 1 packet bourbon vanilla sugar

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 175°C (150°C fan).

2. Mix butter, flour, sugar, and vanilla sugar by hand until crumbly, then bake on a parchment-lined tray for 15 minutes until golden.

3. Peel and core apples, cut into chunks, toss with lemon juice, and mix with cinnamon stick, star anise, orange juice, sugar, and bitter almond oil.

4. Roast apples for 20–25 minutes until soft but slightly firm, stirring occasionally.

5. Let the compote cool completely.

6. Whip the cream until fluffy, then fold in quark.

7. Add powdered sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla, and chill the mixture.

8. Layer chilled cinnamon cream into glasses, spoon apple compote on top, and finish with baked streusel.

9. Optionally garnish with toasted almond flakes.

10. Add streusel just before serving to keep it crisp.
