Description

These Black Forest Cookies are rich, soft, and chewy with deep chocolate flavor, bursts of juicy cherries, and creamy chocolate chips in every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

3/4 cup brown sugar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup white chocolate chips

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and chopped

Instructions

1. Melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature, then prepare and chop the cherries

2. Preheat oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper

3. Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl

4. In another bowl, mix cooled butter, both sugars, vanilla, and eggs until smooth

5. Add dry ingredients into the wet mixture and stir until just combined

6. Fold in chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and chopped cherries

7. Scoop large portions of dough onto baking sheets, spacing them apart

8. Bake one tray at a time for about 13 to 15 minutes until edges are set

9. While still warm, press extra chocolate chips on top if desired

10. Let cookies rest on the tray briefly before transferring to a rack to cool

Notes

Measure flour by spooning and leveling to avoid dense cookies

Butter must be cooled before mixing to prevent spreading

If cookies spread too much, add a little extra flour

Bake slightly longer if cherries add excess moisture

Add 2 tablespoons extra flour for high altitude baking

Bring eggs to room temperature before use
