Description
This blackberry lemonade recipe takes me straight back to my nonna’s sun-drenched garden—refreshing, tart, and deeply satisfying. Made with just four fresh ingredients, it’s your go-to when the summer heat hits and all you want is something bright, simple, and outrageously good.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh blackberries (or frozen if needed)
- 1 cup lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 cups water
- Optional garnishes: Mint leaves, lemon slices, whole berries, or berry-filled ice cubes
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 2 cups blackberries.
- Bring to a gentle boil and mash the berries with a spoon to release their juices. Simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Strain the syrup using a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp. Set aside the vibrant liquid.
- In a pitcher, mix the strained syrup with 1 cup lemon juice and 3 cups cold water. Stir well.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or serve immediately over ice. Stir before serving as natural separation occurs.
Notes
Top with sparkling water for a fizzy twist or swap in raspberries for a fruity variation. Store in the fridge for up to 5 days. Perfect for popsicles too!
