Description
Classic Christmas Jam Bars combine buttery sugar cookie dough and fruity jam for an easy, festive two-ingredient holiday dessert that’s perfect for gifting or cozy winter nights.
Ingredients
2/3 cup fruit preserves or jam (raspberry, strawberry, apricot)
1 lb (16 oz) refrigerated sugar cookie dough (such as Pillsbury Ready to Bake!)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Break up two-thirds of the cookie dough and press it evenly into the prepared pan to form a smooth base.
3. Spoon jam over the crust, spreading it evenly and leaving a small border around the edges.
4. Crumble remaining dough evenly over the jam to create a rustic crumb topping.
5. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until the top is light golden and the jam is set.
6. Cool completely before slicing into 12–16 bars.
Notes
Avoid using too much jam to prevent sogginess and uneven baking.
Let bars cool fully before slicing for clean cuts.
Use parchment paper with overhang to easily lift out the bars.
Softer dough is easier to press and spread evenly.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Freeze for up to 3 months with parchment between layers.
Can be baked directly from frozen with extra bake time.
