Description
A quick and flavorful Korean-inspired ground beef bowl with garlic, sesame, and soy sauce over fluffy rice. Perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef (80/20)
2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
1 tablespoon sesame oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced
2 green onions, chopped (plus extra for garnish)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 cups cooked rice (jasmine, basmati, or brown)
Optional: sesame seeds, sliced cucumber, kimchi, pickled vegetables
Optional: bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, spinach, fried egg
Instructions
1. Cook rice using stovetop, rice cooker, or Instant Pot. For stovetop, rinse 1 cup rice, combine with 2 cups water, boil, simmer 15 minutes, then fluff.
2. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until browned, breaking it apart, about 5–7 minutes.
3. Drain excess fat if needed. Add garlic and ginger, cook 1–2 minutes until aromatic.
4. Stir in soy sauce, sesame oil, and green onions. Add salt and pepper. Simmer briefly to combine flavors.
5. To serve, place rice in bowl, top with beef mixture, add optional vegetables or egg, and garnish with sesame seeds and extra green onions.
Notes
Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat on stove or microwave.
Tamari can be used for a gluten-free version.
Ground turkey, chicken, or plant-based alternatives may be substituted.
Add sriracha or gochujang for heat.
