Description

Fun, spooky mini cookie cups filled with green buttercream and topped with Halloween candy decorations. Perfect for parties and easy enough for kids to help!

Ingredients

Scale

**For the Cookie Cups**

1 (15.25 oz) box Devil’s Food cake mix

2 large eggs

1/2 cup canola or vegetable oil

Black food coloring (optional)

**For the Buttercream Frosting**

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

3 cups powdered sugar

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp salt

13 tbsp milk

Green food coloring

**For Decoration**

Round green sprinkles

Halloween sprinkles (e.g., skulls, bones)

Candy eyeballs

Pretzel sticks (broken into halves)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease three 12-count mini muffin pans.

2. In a large bowl, mix cake mix, eggs, oil, and optional black food coloring until combined.

3. Scoop about 1/2 tablespoon of dough into each mini muffin cup. Flatten with fingers.

4. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are set.

5. Immediately press an indentation into each warm cookie using the back of a 1 tbsp measuring spoon.

6. Let cool completely in the pan before transferring to a wire rack.

7. Make buttercream: beat softened butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, vanilla, and salt. Add milk as needed to reach piping consistency. Add green food coloring.

8. Pipe green buttercream into each cooled cookie cup to look like a bubbling potion.

9. Decorate with sprinkles, candy eyeballs, and a broken pretzel stick as a stirrer.

10. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3–4 days or refrigerate up to 1 week.

Freeze undecorated cookie cups for up to 3 months.

Make sure cookie cups are fully cool before piping frosting.

Let kids decorate their own for a fun Halloween activity.

Try mini brownies or cream cheese frosting for variations.
