Description
Easy Rice Krispie Easter Nests are a fun no bake Easter dessert made with marshmallows, crispy rice cereal, and chocolate eggs. They take about 20 minutes to prepare and create festive edible nests perfect for Easter parties and spring celebrations.
Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter
10 ounces mini marshmallows or about 40 large marshmallows
6 cups Rice Krispie cereal
36 mini Cadbury eggs
Green shredded candy grass or similar edible grass decoration
1 ounce white chocolate melted optional
Instructions
1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium low heat until fully melted.
2. Add about three quarters of the marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth.
3. Remove the saucepan from heat.
4. Add the Rice Krispie cereal and the remaining marshmallows then stir until the cereal is evenly coated.
5. Lightly grease a mini bundt pan or muffin tin.
6. Press the cereal mixture into each cavity and shape it into a nest with a hollow center.
7. Allow the nests to cool and firm up completely.
8. Carefully remove the nests from the mold.
9. Drizzle melted white chocolate on top if desired.
10. Place green candy grass inside each nest and add several mini chocolate eggs.
Notes
Adding some marshmallows at the end creates pockets of soft marshmallow texture.
Chocolate rice cereal can replace part or all of the plain cereal for a different flavor.
If Cadbury mini eggs are unavailable use jelly beans robin eggs or M&M candies.
Green candy grass can be replaced with green tinted coconut or piped frosting.
Work quickly while shaping because the mixture firms up as it cools.
