Description
Easy Tiramisu is a classic Italian no bake dessert made with coffee soaked ladyfingers layered with a smooth mascarpone cream. This beginner friendly recipe takes only about 20 minutes to prepare, then chills until perfectly creamy and set.
Ingredients
16–20 ladyfinger cookies (Savoiardi)
¾–1 cup strong cold coffee or espresso
1 large egg, room temperature
1½ tablespoons granulated sugar
1 cup mascarpone cheese, room temperature
1 cup heavy cream or whipping cream (at least 30% fat)
Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
Instructions
1. Whisk the egg and sugar together in a bowl until light and slightly frothy.
2. Add mascarpone cheese, cream, and a small splash of coffee. Beat with a mixer until thick, smooth, and creamy.
3. Pour cold coffee into a shallow dish.
4. Quickly dip each ladyfinger in the coffee, turning once so it absorbs liquid without becoming soggy.
5. Arrange a layer of coffee soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish.
6. Spread part of the mascarpone cream mixture evenly over the cookies.
7. Repeat layering with another layer of coffee dipped ladyfingers and the remaining cream mixture.
8. Cover and refrigerate for about 2–3 hours until the dessert sets.
9. Dust the top with cocoa powder just before serving.
Notes
Use pasteurized eggs if concerned about consuming raw eggs.
If skipping the egg, replace granulated sugar with powdered sugar.
Heavy cream must contain at least 30% fat so the filling thickens properly.
Dip ladyfingers quickly in coffee to avoid a soggy texture.
Cocoa powder can be replaced with chocolate chips, grated chocolate, or chocolate shavings.
