Description
Garlic Brown Sugar Chicken is a sweet, savory, and garlicky main dish with crispy skin and juicy meat. The brown sugar glaze caramelizes beautifully, making it a family-favorite weeknight recipe.
Ingredients
8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup brown sugar, packed
1 tablespoon honey
½ teaspoon dried oregano
¼ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried basil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley leaves
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Season chicken with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Sear chicken skin-side down for 2–3 minutes per side until golden. Remove chicken and set aside.
4. Melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter in the same skillet. Add minced garlic and cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat.
5. Stir in brown sugar, honey, oregano, thyme, and basil.
6. Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over each piece.
7. Bake uncovered in the oven for 25–30 minutes, until internal temperature reaches 175°F.
8. Remove from oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
Notes
Double the sauce if you love extra glaze for drizzling over rice or veggies.
Be careful when removing the skillet from the oven—the handle stays hot.
You can substitute boneless chicken thighs or chicken breasts if preferred. Adjust cook time as needed.
Try maple syrup instead of honey for a twist on flavor.
