Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Beef (80% or 85% lean)
- 1 Tablespoon Butter
- 1 Small Onion (half diced, half minced)
- 1 Green Bell Pepper (diced)
- 1 Cup Beef Broth
- 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Fresh Ground Black Pepper
- 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch
- 8 oz Cheddar Cheese (or mozzarella)
- 6 Brioche Hamburger Buns
Instructions
Prepare the Ground Beef
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook until a deep brown crust forms before breaking it apart.
Sauté Vegetables
- Remove the beef from the skillet, leaving the fat behind.
- Add butter, diced onion, and bell pepper to the pan. Sauté for 1-2 minutes without stirring, allowing the vegetables to caramelize slightly. Stir and repeat for another 1-2 minutes.
Combine Ingredients
- Remove excess grease from the pan.
- Return the ground beef to the skillet.
Create the Sauce
- In a small measuring cup, mix beef broth and cornstarch.
- Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper to the pan.
- Pour in the beef broth mixture and stir well.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Melt the Cheese
- Turn off the heat and fold in the cheese until melted and evenly distributed.
Toast the Buns
- Heat a small amount of butter in a clean pan over medium-high heat.
- Toast the brioche buns until golden brown.
Assemble and Serve
- Scoop the beef mixture onto the toasted buns. Serve immediately and enjoy!
