Description

Fudgy Halloween brownies with a rich chocolate base and a festive orange cheesecake swirl. Perfect for Halloween parties and make-ahead treats.

Ingredients

Scale

**Brownie Layer:**

1 cup white granulated sugar

2 large eggs (room temperature)

4 tbsp unsalted butter (melted)

1/4 cup oil (canola or vegetable)

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

2/3 cup all-purpose flour

2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (preferably Dutch-processed)

1/2 tbsp cornstarch (optional)

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 tbsp hot water

**Cheesecake Layer:**

8 oz full-fat cream cheese (room temperature)

1/4 cup white granulated sugar

1 tsp pure vanilla extract

1 large egg (room temperature)

Orange food dye (gel recommended)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Spray and line an 8×8-inch pan with parchment.

2. In a bowl, whisk flour, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt.

3. In another bowl, beat sugar and eggs on high for 5 minutes.

4. Add melted butter, oil, and vanilla. Mix until just combined.

5. Add dry ingredients, mix gently, then fold with a spatula. Reserve 1/4 cup batter.

6. Spread the remaining batter evenly in the pan.

7. For the cheesecake layer, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.

8. Add orange gel dye and mix until bright and even.

9. Add the egg and mix gently on low.

10. Spread the cheesecake layer over the brownie base.

11. Mix reserved brownie batter with hot water and swirl on top.

12. Bake for 40–50 minutes until the center is set and toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.

13. Cool completely, then chill for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

Use Dutch-processed cocoa for richer flavor.

Don’t overmix after adding flour.

For best results, chill overnight before slicing.

Use parchment overhangs to lift brownies easily from the pan.

These freeze beautifully — wrap tightly and thaw before serving.
