Description
Cute, easy, and colorful these Heart Shaped Valentines Caprese Skewers make a festive no-cook appetizer with tomatoes, basil, and bocconcini. Perfect for date night or parties!
Ingredients
2 cups grape tomatoes (longer ones work best)
1 cup fresh basil leaves
2 cups mini bocconcini cheese balls
Balsamic vinegar reduction (or balsamic vinegar)
Toothpicks (about 4 inches long or bamboo appetizer picks)
Instructions
1. Slice each grape tomato at an angle, flip one half, and fit the two halves together to form a heart shape.
2. Thread onto a toothpick: one basil leaf, a bocconcini ball, the heart-shaped tomato, another bocconcini ball, and a second basil leaf.
3. Drizzle with balsamic reduction or serve with balsamic vinegar on the side.
4. Serve immediately or refrigerate, covered, for a few hours before serving.
Notes
Use longer grape tomatoes for better heart shapes.
Mix and match tomato halves if they don’t align perfectly.
Mini bocconcini are ideal for size and ease of assembly.
Add salt and fresh ground pepper for extra flavor.
Serve with baguette slices or on a charcuterie board.
Avoid making too far in advance to prevent basil from browning.
