Description

Soft, fluffy, and vibrant — these Heavenly Red Velvet Cinnamon Rolls blend the rich cocoa charm of red velvet with buttery cinnamon swirls and creamy frosting. Perfect for brunch, holidays, or cozy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale

3½ cups all-purpose flour

¼ cup granulated sugar

1 packet (2¼ tsp) active dry yeast

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 cup whole milk, warmed

¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 large egg

2 tbsp red food coloring

1 tsp vanilla extract

Filling:

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

¾ cup packed brown sugar

2 tbsp ground cinnamon

½ cup mini chocolate chips (optional)

Cream Cheese Frosting:

8 oz cream cheese, softened

½ cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tsp vanilla extract

24 tbsp milk

Instructions

1. Mix 2 cups flour with sugar, yeast, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk warm milk, melted butter, red food coloring, vanilla, and egg. Combine wet and dry ingredients, then gradually mix in remaining flour until dough is soft and slightly sticky.

2. Knead dough on floured surface for 8–10 minutes or use a mixer for 6–8 minutes. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1½ hours until doubled.

3. Combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for filling. Set aside chocolate chips if using.

4. Roll risen dough into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly, leaving a small edge. Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Roll tightly from long side and seal edge. Slice into 12 equal rolls and place in greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.

5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20–25 minutes until puffed and golden, but not overbaked.

6. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, then adjust consistency with milk until fluffy.

7. Let rolls cool slightly before generously frosting. Serve warm.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for a brighter red without changing dough texture.

Add crushed candy canes or red sugar crystals for a festive touch.

Store rolls in airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Reheat in the microwave for 10–15 seconds before serving.
