Description

A simple, refreshing infusion of lemon and ginger that’s hydrating, lightly spiced, and perfect for mornings or all-day sipping.

Ingredients

Scale

4 cups (1 quart / 1 liter) filtered or bottled water

3040 grams (1–1.4 ounces) fresh ginger root

1 medium lemon

Instructions

1. Peel and thinly slice the ginger.

2. Place the sliced ginger in a pitcher and pour in the water.

3. Refrigerate overnight (or at least 6–8 hours) to infuse flavor.

4. In the morning, pour a glass and warm it gently until lukewarm.

5. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice just before drinking.

6. Drink throughout the day, cold or warm, adding lemon juice before each serving.

Notes

Adjust the amount of ginger or water if the flavor is too strong.

For a bolder flavor, grate the ginger instead of slicing.

Store infused ginger water in the fridge for up to 24 hours.

Add lemon juice only at serving time to preserve nutrients.

Best enjoyed first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.
