Ingredients
Juice of half a lemon up to one small whole lemon per serving, adjustable to taste
1 cup (8 ounces) water
Lemon slices for garnish
Fresh mint for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Wash and dry the lemons, then slice them thinly.
2. Fill a glass with about 8 ounces of water.
3. Squeeze in the juice of half to one small lemon and stir.
4. Add ice if desired and garnish with a lemon slice and mint.
5. For a pitcher, add lemon slices to a large pitcher, fill with water, and let it steep up to 1 hour.
6. Serve over ice and discard fruit by day’s end to avoid bitterness.
Notes
Combine lemon and lime slices for a citrus mix.
Add cucumber slices for a cooling flavor.
Use sparkling water for a fizzy version.
Warm lemon water can be made by mixing lemon juice into hot water with optional honey.
Steep longer for stronger flavor, but discard fruit after a day.
