Description
These lime margarita bars feature a buttery graham cracker crust topped with a tangy lime filling inspired by a classic margarita. They are bright, citrusy, and perfect for Cinco de Mayo or summer gatherings.
Ingredients
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/4 cup all purpose flour
7 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 1/4 cups granulated sugar, divided
4 eggs
1/3 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 to 7 limes)
1 teaspoon lime zest
1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
1 tablespoon tequila (optional)
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper, then lightly grease it.
2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, flour, melted butter, and 1/4 cup sugar until evenly mixed.
3. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of the pan to form the crust.
4. Bake the crust for about 12 minutes until set.
5. Whisk together the eggs and remaining sugar until blended.
6. Add lime juice, orange juice, lime zest, and tequila if using.
7. Whisk in the flour until the filling is smooth.
8. Pour the filling over the warm crust.
9. Bake for 23 to 25 minutes until the filling is set.
10. Allow the bars to cool completely, dust with powdered sugar, and cut into squares.
Notes
Tequila is optional. Replace it with extra lime or orange juice for a non alcoholic version.
Use fresh lime juice for the best citrus flavor.
Let the bars cool completely before cutting for clean slices.
Store in the refrigerator for up to three days.
