Description

Chewy, sweet-salty no bake Christmas Trees made with peanut butter, pretzels, and chocolate. Perfect for gifting, decorating with kids, or quick holiday treats.


Ingredients

1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar

1/2 cup (170g) Karo Light Corn Syrup

3/4 cup (190g) creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup (60g) crushed pretzels

1 cup (100g) quick oats

2 cups (55g) crispy rice cereal

3/4 cup (130g) semisweet chocolate chips

1/2 cup (125g) creamy peanut butter (for chocolate layer)

1 cup (120g) powdered sugar

1 1/2 tbsp milk

12 drops green gel food coloring

Sprinkles of choice


Instructions

1. Crush pretzels finely and mix them with oats and cereal in a large bowl.

2. In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together corn syrup and brown sugar until it bubbles; let bubble for 30 seconds, then remove from heat and mix in peanut butter.

3. Pour over dry mixture and stir to coat.

4. Firmly press mixture into a parchment-lined, greased 8×8 pan.

5. Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter in the microwave in short bursts until smooth.

6. Spread over bars and gently shake the pan to smooth the surface.

7. Chill in the fridge for 30–60 minutes or freeze for 20–30 minutes until firm.

8. Remove from the pan, slice down the middle, and cut each half into 5 triangles.

9. Mix powdered sugar and milk until it forms a glue-like consistency, then tint with green food coloring.

10. Pipe icing onto triangles in zigzag lines and decorate with sprinkles.

Notes

To make this gluten-free, substitute with gluten-free pretzels, oats, and rice cereal.

Finely crush pretzels so bars hold together better.

Press mixture firmly into the pan for compact bars.

Microwave chocolate briefly and stir well to avoid overheating.

Let bars chill fully before slicing for clean edges.

Decorating is easiest when bars are cool and firm.
