Description

Oreo Dump Cake is a rich, gooey chocolate dessert made with layers of Oreo cookies, sweetened condensed milk, whipped topping, chocolate cake mix, and butter. This easy dessert requires no mixing bowls and bakes into a soft, scoopable cake that tastes amazing served warm with ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

24 Oreo cookies, divided (about 18 to 22 for the base and the rest chopped for topping)

14 oz can sweetened condensed milk

8 oz tub whipped topping such as Cool Whip, thawed

15.25 oz box chocolate fudge cake mix or any chocolate cake mix

1/2 cup salted butter, cold and thinly sliced

Optional toppings: vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup, extra crushed Oreos

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray.

2. Arrange whole Oreo cookies in a single layer across the bottom of the baking dish.

3. Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the Oreo cookies.

4. Spread the thawed whipped topping gently over the condensed milk without mixing the layers.

5. Evenly sprinkle the dry chocolate cake mix across the whipped topping layer.

6. Place thin slices of butter evenly across the cake mix so most areas are covered.

7. Roughly chop the remaining Oreo cookies and scatter them across the top.

8. Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes until the top is set and the edges are bubbling.

9. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes, then scoop and serve warm.

Notes

Do not mix the layers because dump cakes rely on layering ingredients directly in the baking dish.

Pour butter slowly and evenly over the dry cake mix to prevent dry spots after baking.

Whole Oreos at the bottom create a soft cookie crust while baking.

Sweetened condensed milk caramelizes slightly during baking and softens the cookies, creating a gooey center.

The dessert tastes best served warm because it firms up as it cools.

If the top appears dry while baking, drizzle a small amount of melted butter over uncovered areas.
