Description

These oven baked sweet potato fries are crispy, flavorful, and perfect for Thanksgiving or any cozy dinner. Made with just a few simple ingredients and your favorite spices, they’re a healthier twist on classic fries the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

2 pounds orange-fleshed sweet potatoes (about 3 large)

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt

1 to 2 tablespoons spice or spice blend (chipotle powder, smoked paprika, pumpkin pie spice, Chinese five-spice, garam masala, Cajun seasoning)

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 450°F (or 500°F for extra crispiness). Place a baking sheet in the oven to preheat.

2. Peel sweet potatoes or leave the skin on if preferred. Cut into evenly sized wedges or rounds (1/4 to 1/2-inch thick).

3. In a large bowl, toss the sweet potatoes with olive oil, salt, and your chosen seasoning blend until evenly coated.

4. Spread the seasoned sweet potatoes on the hot baking sheet in a single layer, leaving space between pieces.

5. Bake for 15–25 minutes, flipping the fries after the first 10 minutes to ensure even browning.

6. Remove from oven when fries are deep golden and caramelized. Let cool for 5 minutes to crisp up.

7. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

Cut fries evenly for consistent crisping.

Use only one baking sheet per batch to avoid steaming.

Add a small sprinkle of sugar before baking for extra caramelization.

Substitute half the oil with melted butter for richer flavor.

Deep browning adds natural sweetness and crispiness—don’t be afraid of dark edges.
