Patriotic Oreo Balls Recipe for 4th of July Fun

  • Author: Kai
  • Total Time: 2 hours 30 minutes (including chill time)
  • Yield: about 30 balls

Description

There’s something magical about the 4th of July—the fireworks, the laughter, the bold colors flying high in the summer sky. And what better way to celebrate than with Patriotic Oreo Balls, a quick 4th of July dessert that’s as festive as it is fuss-free? These vibrant, red, white, and blue treats are perfect for Memorial Day picnics, Independence Day block parties, or any summer soirée where you want to show off your patriotic spirit.

Ingredients

  • Family-size package Oreo Cookies (1 lb 2.12 oz)
  • Block cream cheese (8 oz, softened)
  • Red candy melts (12 oz bag)
  • Blue candy melts (12 oz bag)
  • Ghirardelli white melting wafers (⅓ cup)
  • White star confetti sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line two baking trays with parchment paper.
  2. Using a food processor or blender, crush Oreo cookies into fine crumbs.
  3. In a mixing bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth.
  4. Combine the Oreo crumbs with the cream cheese until well mixed to create a luscious dough.
  5. Use a 1.5” cookie scoop to portion the dough.
  6. Roll into smooth, even balls by hand.
  7. Place the balls on your prepared trays and refrigerate for 2 hours. In a hurry? Pop them in the freezer for 15-20 minutes for a quick set.
  8. Melt the blue candy melts in a double boiler or microwave (following package instructions).
  9. Dip half of the chilled Oreo balls into the blue coating, tap off the excess, and immediately sprinkle with white star confetti. Refrigerate to set.
  10. Melt the red candy melts.
  11. Dip the remaining Oreo balls, ensuring even coverage.
  12. Melt the white wafers in a piping bag, then drizzle over the red-coated balls for that festive drizzle.
  13. Refrigerate all to set (about 10 minutes).

Notes

Keep your Oreo balls dipped in colored chocolate refrigerated until party time. The chill enhances the creamy texture and keeps them fresh longer. For a decorative twist, swap the colors and sprinkles for other holidays—green and red for Christmas, orange and black for Halloween, or pastels for Easter.
