Description

Soft, buttery Red Velvet Blossoms Cookies with a light cocoa note, sparkly red sugar, and a warm Hershey’s Kiss pressed on top. Small batch and holiday ready.

Ingredients

Scale

7 tbsp butter, softened (salted or unsalted)

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 tbsp granulated sugar

1 large egg yolk

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/4 tsp red food coloring gel

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tbsp cocoa powder

1/2 tsp baking powder

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 cup red sanding sugar

18 Hershey’s chocolate Kisses

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.

2. Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.

3. Mix in egg yolk, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.

4. Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.

5. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until just combined.

6. Scoop 1 tbsp portions (18 total), roll into balls, and coat in red sanding sugar.

7. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.

8. Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie. Cool on the sheet for 10 minutes, then move to a rack.

Notes

Red sanding sugar adds a festive look, though granulated sugar works in a pinch.

Great for Christmas and Valentine’s Day. Change up colors and Kisses for fun variations.

Flavor profile is buttery with subtle cocoa and vanilla.

Try white chocolate Kisses for a creamy twist.

Storage tip: airtight at room temp up to 3 days or refrigerate up to 7 days. Bring to room temp or microwave briefly before serving.
