Description

A sweet and salty Christmas candy made with layers of milk chocolate, creamy white chocolate, crushed peppermint, and a sprinkle of sea salt. Perfect for gifting, cookie platters, or cozy holiday snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

24 oz light cocoa candy melts or chocolate chips

20 oz white almond bark or white chocolate chips or melting wafers

1 tsp peppermint extract oil based optional

3 oz crushed peppermint or crushed candy canes

1½ tsp sea salt flakes

Instructions

1. Line a cookie sheet with parchment or wax paper.

2. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, stirring continuously until smooth.

3. Pour melted chocolate on the prepared sheet and spread evenly. Allow to partially set until tacky.

4. Melt white chocolate and stir in peppermint extract.

5. Spread white chocolate over the semi-set chocolate base.

6. Sprinkle crushed peppermint and sea salt evenly on top.

7. Let the bark set completely at room temperature until firm.

8. Cut into pieces with a sharp knife and serve or package for gifts.

Notes

Add white chocolate while the base layer is still tacky to prevent layers from separating.

Use only oil-based peppermint extract to keep chocolate smooth.

Sea salt flakes add sparkle and crunch. If unavailable, use coarsely ground salt.

To crush peppermint, seal candies in a zip-top bag and roll gently with a rolling pin.

For variety, swirl chocolates together or add crushed pretzels or toffee bits.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for several weeks.

Freezer-friendly up to 3 months. Thaw in the container to avoid condensation.

Naturally gluten-free and vegetarian. No candy thermometer needed.
