Description
Slow Cooker Chicken and Gravy is a creamy, comforting dish made with tender shredded chicken and rich savory gravy. Perfect for busy days, this easy recipe uses simple ingredients and pairs well with rice, mashed potatoes, or biscuits.
Ingredients
2.5 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts
1 can (10.25 oz) cream of chicken soup
2 packets chicken gravy mix
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
1/2 cup sour cream
Salt to taste
Black pepper to taste
Cooked rice for serving
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
1. Place chicken breasts in the slow cooker in a single layer
2. Mix together the cream of chicken soup, gravy mix, and chicken broth until smooth
3. Pour the mixture over the chicken, making sure it is fully coated
4. Cover and cook on low for about 4 hours until the chicken becomes tender
5. Shred the chicken directly in the slow cooker or remove and shred, then return it to the gravy
6. Stir in sour cream until the mixture becomes creamy and smooth
7. Season with salt and black pepper as needed
8. Serve warm over rice and garnish with fresh parsley
Notes
Shredding the chicken in the slow cooker helps it absorb more flavor
If the gravy is too thin, add a cornstarch slurry to thicken
If the gravy is too thick, add a little extra chicken broth
Sour cream adds richness and should not be skipped
You can substitute chicken thighs for more flavor
Store leftovers in the fridge up to 3 days or freeze up to 2 months
