Description
There’s something magical about the clink of ice cubes in a tall glass on a summer afternoon, especially when that glass is filled with old-fashioned lemonade. This three ingredient homemade lemonade is a nostalgic nod to barefoot porch days and sun-drenched pitchers—refreshing, tangy, and the ultimate thirst-quencher!
Ingredients
Scale
- ¾ cup fresh lemon juice (about 4–5 lemons or 100% bottled juice)
- 1¼ cups granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 7¼ cups cold water
- Optional: 3 cups ice cubes
- Optional: Lemon slices for serving
Instructions
- Juice lemons to get ¾ cup fresh juice. Bottled lemon juice (100%) works too.
- In a saucepan, boil 1 cup water and dissolve the sugar completely to make a syrup. Optional: simmer with lemon slices for extra flavor.
- Strain out any pulp or lemon slices.
- In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice, syrup, and remaining cold water.
- Add ice and lemon slices. Chill for 1–2 hours for best flavor. Serve cold and enjoy!
Notes
Wash lemons before juicing, especially if zesting. Adjust sugar to taste after mixing. Store covered in the fridge for up to 7 days. Freeze leftovers in an ice cube tray for lemonade slushies or iced tea cubes.
