Ingredients

Scale

1 package (3 oz) Berry Blue Jello

1 package (3 oz) Strawberry Jello

8 oz whipped topping such as Cool Whip

1 cup boiling water for Berry Blue Jello

1 cup cold water for Berry Blue Jello

1 cup boiling water for Strawberry Jello

1 cup cold water for Strawberry Jello

Patriotic sprinkles, edible glitter stars, mini flags, or candy toppings, optional

Instructions

1. Place the blue and red gelatin powders into separate bowls.

2. Mix each bowl with 1 cup boiling water until fully dissolved.

3. Stir 1 cup cold water into each gelatin mixture.

4. Pour each mixture into separate matching pans.

5. Refrigerate for about 4 hours, or until firm.

6. Cut the set gelatin into small cubes.

7. Fill dessert cups with a layer of blue gelatin cubes.

8. Add whipped topping in the middle.

9. Finish with red gelatin cubes.

10. Top with an extra spoonful of whipped topping.

Notes

Thaw frozen whipped topping in the refrigerator before using.

Use slightly less cold water for firmer gelatin cubes.

Add whipped topping and sprinkles shortly before serving so they stay fresh and do not bleed color.

Homemade whipped cream can replace Cool Whip if preferred.

Store covered in the refrigerator until ready to eat.
