20 large marshmallows
12 ounces red candy melts
2 pieces black licorice, cut into 20 thin strips
Red, white, and blue sprinkles
10 paper straws, cut in half
Instructions
1. Insert a paper straw through each marshmallow.
2. Cut a small slit in the top of every marshmallow with a sharp knife.
3. Slice the licorice into thin pieces to create decorative fuses.
4. Melt the red candy melts in the microwave according to package directions, stirring frequently until smooth.
5. Dip each marshmallow fully into the melted coating.
6. Immediately add sprinkles around the lower portion before the coating hardens.
7. Insert a licorice strip into the slit at the top.
8. Place the coated marshmallows on wax paper and allow them to cool until set.
Notes
Microwave candy melts in short intervals and stir between each round to prevent overheating.
Add sprinkles quickly before the coating firms up.
Wax paper helps prevent sticking while the pops cool.
