Description

This 4th of July Trifle layers angel food cake, white chocolate pudding, whipped topping, strawberries, and blueberries for an easy chilled patriotic dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

2 (3.4-ounce) boxes instant white chocolate pudding

4 cups cold whole milk

1 (14-ounce) store-bought angel food cake, cut into 1-inch cubes

2 (8-ounce) containers thawed whipped topping

32 ounces fresh strawberries, washed, dried, hulled, and sliced

18 ounces fresh blueberries, washed and dried

Instructions

1. Prepare the white chocolate pudding with cold milk according to the package directions, then refrigerate until thickened.

2. In a large trifle bowl, arrange a layer of angel food cake cubes.

3. Spread half of the pudding over the cake.

4. Add sliced strawberries around the bowl edges and over the pudding, then layer blueberries on top.

5. Spread one container of whipped topping evenly over the berries.

6. Repeat the layers with remaining cake, pudding, strawberries, and blueberries.

7. Finish with the remaining whipped topping and garnish with extra strawberries and blueberries.

8. Chill for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

Dry the berries thoroughly before layering to avoid excess moisture.

Keep the layers neat for a cleaner presentation and wipe the inside of the bowl if needed.

Fresh berries work best since frozen fruit may release too much liquid.

Cheesecake, vanilla, lemon, or other pudding flavors can replace white chocolate pudding.

Pound cake or sponge cake can replace angel food cake.

Fresh whipped cream or coconut whipped cream can replace whipped topping.

Add coconut flakes, chopped nuts, chocolate sauce, or festive sprinkles for extra flavor and decoration.

Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, though best enjoyed within 24 hours.

Do not freeze because the texture does not hold up well after thawing.

Pudding and cake can be prepared up to 24 hours in advance for easier assembly.
