Description

Fresh, authentic-style Best Ever Guacamole made with ripe avocados, Roma tomatoes, onion, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, fresh lime juice, and sea salt. This simple homemade guacamole comes together in just 10 minutes with no fillers and makes 4 servings.

Ingredients

Scale

3 ripe avocados

1/2 small yellow onion, finely diced

2 Roma tomatoes, diced

3 tablespoons finely chopped fresh cilantro

1 jalapeño pepper, seeds removed and finely diced

2 garlic cloves, minced

Juice of 1 lime

1/2 teaspoon sea salt

Instructions

1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a mixing bowl.

2. Mash the avocados with a fork until you reach your preferred texture, either chunky or smooth.

3. Add the onion, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, jalapeño, garlic, lime juice, and sea salt.

4. Mix until all the ingredients are evenly combined.

5. Taste and add extra salt or fresh lime juice if needed.

6. Serve immediately with tortilla chips.

Notes

Use large, ripe but still firm avocados for the best texture. If using small avocados, add one extra.

Fresh lime juice provides the best flavor, so avoid bottled lime juice.

Yellow onion is traditional, but red onion also works.

Roma tomatoes work well because they contain less moisture.

Replace the jalapeño with a serrano pepper if you want extra heat.

Reduce or omit the garlic to suit your taste.

For longer storage, smooth the surface of leftover guacamole in an airtight container and cover it with about 1/2 inch of cold water.

Refrigerate the covered guacamole, then pour off the water and stir before serving.

This storage method can help keep the guacamole green for up to 3 days, although it may become slightly more watery by the third day.

Fresh, firm-ripe avocados produce the best flavor and texture.
