Ingredients

1 cup powdered sugar

¼ teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice

¼ teaspoon almond, vanilla, or cherry extract

2 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra if needed

1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

¼ cup granulated sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

1. Cream butter and powdered sugar until fluffy.

2. Mix in cherry juice and chosen extract until smooth.

3. Add 2 cups of flour and salt; mix on low until incorporated. Add more flour gradually until dough is pliable and not sticky.

4. Fold in chopped cherries gently.

5. Form dough into tablespoon-sized balls, roll in granulated sugar, and chill for 20 minutes.

6. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

7. Place chilled dough balls on the sheet and bake for about 10 minutes.

8. Immediately press a Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie after baking, then allow to cool.
