Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, chopped and well-drained
24 chocolate kiss candies
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper
2. Cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy
3. Mix in egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until smooth
4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt
5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture until dough forms
6. Fold in chopped and well-drained cherries
7. Scoop dough into balls and place on baking sheet spaced apart
8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are lightly golden
9. Immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie
10. Cool on baking sheet briefly, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely

Drain cherries thoroughly to avoid excess moisture
Do not overbake to keep cookies soft and chewy
Press chocolate candies while cookies are still warm
Chill dough briefly if it becomes too sticky
