Description
Cherry Limeade is a cold, fizzy summer drink made with fresh lime juice, maraschino cherries, reserved cherry syrup, and lemon-lime soda. It tastes sweet, tart, bubbly, and refreshing, with classic Sonic-inspired flavor.
Ingredients
Crushed ice
1–2 medium limes, thinly sliced
1 jar (10 ounces) maraschino cherries, drained, syrup reserved
1 cup fresh lime juice, from about 8–10 limes, chilled
1/2 cup superfine granulated sugar
1 bottle (2 liters) chilled lemon-lime soda
Instructions
1. Fill a large pitcher halfway with crushed ice.
2. Add the thinly sliced limes and drained maraschino cherries.
3. Keep the reserved maraschino cherry syrup aside.
4. In a separate cup or bowl, stir the chilled fresh lime juice and superfine sugar together until the sugar begins dissolving.
5. Pour the lime juice mixture into the pitcher.
6. Add the reserved cherry syrup.
7. Pour in the chilled lemon-lime soda.
8. Stir gently to combine.
9. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
Notes
Crushed ice works best, but any ice can be used.
Reserve the maraschino cherry syrup because it adds flavor and color.
Superfine sugar dissolves more easily.
To make superfine sugar, pulse regular granulated sugar in a food processor.
Use any preferred lemon-lime soda.
For an alcoholic version, add vodka, cherry vodka, or coconut rum.
This drink tastes best fresh because soda loses carbonation over time.
If making ahead, keep extra chilled soda available to refresh the fizz before serving.
