Description
Cherry Pie Iced Tea is a refreshing American drink made with unsweetened black iced tea and homemade cherry pie syrup flavored with vanilla, butter extract, and optional cake batter extract.
Ingredients
1 cup frozen pitted cherries
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup water
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon butter extract
1/2 teaspoon cake batter extract, optional
2 cups unsweetened black iced tea
4 tablespoons cherry pie syrup
Fresh cherries for garnish
Instructions
1. Combine cherries, sugar, water, and salt in a saucepan.
2. Cook over medium heat, crushing the cherries as they soften, until the mixture slightly thickens.
3. Strain through a fine mesh sieve, pressing the fruit to extract as much syrup as possible.
4. Discard the solids.
5. Stir lemon juice, vanilla extract, butter extract, and optional cake batter extract into the syrup.
6. Let the syrup cool completely.
7. Mix 4 tablespoons of the syrup with 2 cups chilled black iced tea.
8. Serve very cold and garnish with fresh cherries if desired.
Notes
Cake batter extract is optional but helps create a stronger pie-like flavor.
The syrup will continue to thicken as it cools.
Adjust the recipe size by increasing or decreasing the tea and syrup proportionally.
Best served ice cold.
