Description
Cherry Sherbet is a fruity, light, homemade frozen dessert made with fresh cherry juice, almond milk, and a simple sweetened base. It has bold cherry flavor, a creamy texture, and works as a dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, and vegan-friendly treat when made with a vegan gelatin alternative.
Ingredients
1/4 cup sugar or SPLENDA Sugar Blend
1 cup water
1 small package cherry gelatin, or vegan-friendly gelatin alternative if desired
1 cup fresh cherry juice
2 cups almond milk or other milk of choice
Instructions
1. Prepare the ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s directions.
2. In a saucepan, heat the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves and the mixture lightly boils.
3. Stir in the cherry gelatin until fully dissolved.
4. Remove from the heat and mix in the cherry juice.
5. Refrigerate until well chilled, about 30 minutes.
6. Stir in the milk.
7. Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker and churn until thick and frozen.
8. Transfer to a container and freeze for a few hours for a firmer texture, or serve immediately for a softer sherbet.
Notes
For a vegan version, use a plant-based gelatin substitute instead of standard cherry gelatin.
Regular sugar can be used in place of SPLENDA Sugar Blend in equal amounts.
Almond milk can be replaced with any preferred milk.
Freeze longer after churning for a firmer consistency.
