Description

Cool, creamy, tangy, and fresh, this Easy 10 Minute Healthy Tzatziki Sauce uses Greek yogurt, cucumber, lemon, garlic, and dill for a quick healthy dip, spread, dressing, or sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup plain Greek yogurt

1/2 English cucumber, seeded and finely diced, about 2/3 cup

2 teaspoons olive oil

3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon lemon zest

1 tablespoon minced garlic, about 1 clove

1/4 cup fresh chopped dill

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

1. Place the diced cucumber in a strainer, lightly salt it, and let it sit for a few minutes to release moisture.

2. Pat the cucumber dry with paper towels or squeeze it dry using a clean kitchen towel.

3. Add the cucumber, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, dill, olive oil, salt, and pepper to a bowl.

4. Stir until smooth, creamy, and well combined.

5. Taste and adjust the seasoning before serving.

6. Finish with extra dill, black pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil if desired.

7. Serve chilled with pita chips, naan, wraps, salads, grilled meats, falafel, burgers, or fresh vegetables.

Notes

Full-fat Greek yogurt creates a richer and creamier texture, while low-fat or fat-free yogurt keeps it lighter.

English cucumbers work best because they contain less water and fewer seeds.

Removing moisture from the cucumber helps prevent the sauce from becoming watery.

Fresh dill, lemon juice, and lemon zest provide the best flavor, though dried dill and bottled lemon juice can work if needed.

Garlic paste or garlic powder may replace fresh garlic.

Olive oil can be omitted for an oil-free version.

Chili powder or hot sauce can be added for extra heat.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 to 4 days.

Freezing is not recommended because cucumber can release water and affect texture after thawing.
