Description

Sweet tart Fresh Cherry Lemonade Recipe made with fresh lemon juice, cherry juice, honey, and cold water. Ready in 15 minutes with homemade or bottled cherry juice.

Ingredients

Scale

¾ cup cherry juice, bottled tart cherry juice or juice made from 2 cups pitted cherries

½ cup fresh lemon juice, about 3 lemons

⅓ cup plus 2 tablespoons honey, or preferred sweetener

3 cups cold water, up to 3½ cups for a lighter flavor

3 cups ice, for serving

2 to 3 cherries, for garnish

1 lemon slice, for garnish

Instructions

1. Mix the lemon juice and honey in a large pitcher until the sweetener fully dissolves.

2. For fresh cherry juice, blend 2 to 2½ cups pitted fresh or thawed cherries until smooth, then strain to remove pulp. Alternatively, use ¾ cup bottled tart or black cherry juice.

3. Add the cherry juice to the lemon honey mixture and stir well.

4. Pour in the water, mix thoroughly, and adjust sweetness or dilution to taste.

5. Refrigerate until chilled.

6. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh cherries and a lemon slice.

Notes

Sparkling water can replace still water for a fizzy version.

Turn it into a mint cooler by adding fresh mint before chilling.

For an adult version, add vodka or bourbon.

Store refrigerated for up to 3 days.

Best consumed within 2 days.

Stir before serving because natural settling may occur.

Frozen cherries may be used after thawing and draining.

Start with less sweetener if desired, then increase to taste.

Avoid bottled lemon juice or canned cherries for the freshest flavor.

Leftover lemonade can be frozen in ice cube trays and blended later into slushies.

Fresh cherry juice gives richer flavor and higher antioxidant content.

Bottled cherry juice is quicker and more convenient.
