Description
Ghost Oreo Balls are easy no-bake Halloween treats with creamy Oreo and cream cheese centers, a firm white candy coating, and playful chocolate ghost faces.
Ingredients
36 Oreos, including filling
8 oz cream cheese, softened
10 oz white vanilla melting wafers
Melted chocolate chips, as needed for faces
Black decorating gel, as needed for eyes and faces
Candy eyeballs, optional
Instructions
1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, wax paper, or a silicone mat.
2. Process the Oreos, including the filling, into fine, sand-like crumbs. Alternatively, place the Oreos in a sealed bag and crush them thoroughly with a rolling pin.
3. Combine the Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together.
4. Portion the mixture into small balls and roll them between your hands as needed. Arrange them on the prepared baking sheet. You should get about 40 Oreo balls.
5. Freeze the Oreo balls for at least 30 minutes.
6. Place the white vanilla melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds, stir, then continue heating in 15-second intervals until smooth.
7. Insert a toothpick into each chilled Oreo ball. Dip it into the melted white coating, then let the excess coating drip back into the bowl before returning the ball to the lined baking sheet.
8. Continue dipping while the Oreo balls remain cold. If they become too soft, return them to the freezer until firm.
9. Allow the white candy coating to set completely.
10. Melt a small amount of chocolate chips and let the chocolate cool slightly. Transfer it to a small plastic bag and snip off a tiny corner.
11. Pipe ghost eyes and mouths onto the hardened white coating. Alternatively, use black decorating gel and add candy eyeballs if desired.
Notes
Keep the finished Ghost Oreo Balls tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week because they contain cream cheese.
For longer storage, place them in a sealed freezer bag and freeze for about 1 month.
If the white candy coating becomes too thick while dipping, briefly reheat it or stir in a small amount of coconut or vegetable oil.
White chocolate candy melts or vanilla candy coating can replace the white vanilla melting wafers.
Halloween orange-filled Oreos can replace regular Oreos for extra seasonal color.
