Ingredients
1 lb chicken breasts, 2 pieces, cut into bite sized cubes
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons avocado oil
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon red chili pepper flakes, optional
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons cold butter
Chopped chives, for garnish
Instructions
1. Cut the chicken into small bite sized cubes.
2. Coat the chicken evenly with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
3. Add cornstarch and toss until the chicken pieces have a light coating.
4. Heat avocado oil in a skillet over medium high heat.
5. Cook the chicken pieces until browned and crispy on all sides.
6. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside.
7. Reduce the heat, then add minced garlic and red chili pepper flakes to the same pan.
8. Cook briefly until fragrant.
9. Add honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and water.
10. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens slightly.
11. Stir in cold butter until the sauce turns smooth and glossy.
12. Return the chicken to the pan.
13. Toss until every piece gets fully coated in the sauce.
14. Garnish with chopped chives and serve warm.
Notes
Cook the chicken in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding the pan.
Too much chicken at once will steam instead of sear.
The chili flakes add optional heat.
The sauce thickens quickly, so stir often once it starts to simmer.
