Description

Soft, chewy Red, White and Blue M&M’S Cookie Bars packed with mini chocolate chips and festive candy. Perfect for 4th of July, Memorial Day, parties, and crowd-friendly summer dessert tables.

Ingredients

Scale

2 sticks butter, room temperature

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup firmly packed golden brown sugar

3 large eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

3/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/2 cups red, white, and blue M&M’S, plus extra for topping

1 cup mini chocolate chips, plus extra for topping

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

2. Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with foil or parchment paper, leaving overhang for easy removal, then grease lightly with nonstick spray.

3. Beat butter with granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Mix in eggs and vanilla until smooth.

5. Add flour, baking soda, and salt, mixing just until combined.

6. Fold in M&M’S and mini chocolate chips, reserving some for the top.

7. Spread dough evenly into the prepared pan.

8. Press extra candies and chocolate chips on top.

9. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes until lightly golden and set in the center.

10. Cool completely before slicing into bars.

Notes

The dough is thick, so a stand mixer works best, though a hand mixer can also be used.

Avoid overmixing once the flour is added.

Slightly underbaking helps keep the bars soft and chewy as they continue setting while cooling.

Extra candies and chocolate chips on top improve appearance and texture.

Best served fully cooled for clean slices.

Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
