Description

Festive Star-Spangled Brownies made with boxed brownie mix, coffee, butter, cocoa powder, blue candy melts, and red, white, and blue sprinkles. A fun 4th of July dessert for parties and summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

1 box brownie mix, 9×13 size

2 large eggs

1/3 cup cool coffee

1/3 cup butter, softened

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

6 ounces blue candy melts

Red, white, and blue sprinkles

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F and prepare a 9×13 pan with parchment or foil.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, eggs, coffee, butter, cocoa powder, and vanilla, stirring until smooth.

3. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.

4. Bake for about 20 to 25 minutes until set.

5. Let the brownies cool completely before removing from the pan.

6. Use a star-shaped cutter to cut out brownie pieces.

7. Place the brownie stars on a rack set over a tray.

8. Melt the candy melts in short intervals in the microwave, stirring until smooth.

9. Drizzle the melted candy over the brownies.

10. Immediately add red, white, and blue sprinkles so they stick.

11. Allow the coating to firm up before serving.

Notes

The final quantity depends on the size of the cookie cutter used.

Smaller cutters allow more portions and help use leftover pieces.

Extra scraps can be reused or eaten separately.

Coffee enhances the chocolate flavor without making the brownies taste like coffee.

Coffee can replace the water listed on the mix instructions.

Butter can replace oil from the boxed mix directions.

These brownies can be served warm or after fully cooled once the topping has set.

The decoration step can be messy, so using a rack over a tray helps with cleanup.

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3 to 5 days.
