Description
A refreshing Strawberry Basil Lemonade Recipe made with fresh strawberries, lemon juice, basil, and a soft vanilla note. Serve chilled over ice or freeze into popsicles.
Ingredients
10 large fresh strawberries, hulled
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
6 cups filtered water or sparkling water
15 fresh basil leaves
4 tbsp agave syrup or maple syrup, optional, to taste
3 cups ice
1 tsp vanilla extract
5 additional strawberries, hulled and sliced
Extra basil leaves for garnish, optional
Instructions
1. Blend the whole strawberries, basil leaves, lemon juice, water, and vanilla extract until smooth.
2. Pour through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher if you want a smoother texture.
3. Sweeten with agave syrup or maple syrup to taste.
4. Stir in the sliced strawberries.
5. Chill for about 30 minutes.
6. Serve over ice with extra basil if desired.
7. Freeze the mixture into popsicle molds for a frozen treat if desired.
Notes
Straining is usually unnecessary when using a high powered blender.
Strain the lemonade if using a food processor or if you prefer a smoother drink.
Sweetener and vanilla extract are optional and can be adjusted to taste.
Replace basil with mint or lemon balm for a fresh variation.
For adult versions, add vodka, rum, limoncello, or champagne.
