Description

Creamy, fresh, and ready in just 15 minutes, this easy Tuna Salad combines flaky tuna with crunchy celery, red onion, fresh herbs, creamy mayonnaise, and tangy Dijon mustard. Serve it in sandwiches, lettuce wraps, over greens, stuffed into avocado or tomatoes, or with crackers for an easy protein-rich lunch.

Ingredients

Scale

2 (5-ounce) cans tuna, drained

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 celery stalk, diced

2 tablespoons red onion, diced

1 to 2 tablespoons chopped parsley, chives, and/or other fresh herbs

1/2 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Kosher salt, to taste

Ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Drain the tuna thoroughly and place it in a mixing bowl.

2. Add the mayonnaise, diced celery, red onion, fresh herbs, Dijon mustard, kosher salt, and black pepper.

3. Stir everything together with a fork, breaking up larger tuna pieces until you reach your preferred texture.

4. Taste and adjust the salt, pepper, mayonnaise, or herbs as needed.

5. Serve on its own, in lettuce leaves, as a sandwich filling, over greens, stuffed into avocado or tomato halves, or with crackers or chips.

Notes

For a creamier consistency, add more mayonnaise a little at a time.

Greek yogurt can replace some or all of the mayonnaise for a lighter variation.

Wild albacore tuna packed in water works well because of its mild flavor.

For extra tang, add chopped dill or sweet pickles and capers.

For a sweet-savory variation, add curry powder, diced apple, raisins, and almonds.

For extra protein, fold in chopped hard-boiled eggs.

You can also add broccoli rice, green onions, and extra fresh herbs.

Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for 3 to 4 days.

Do not leave the Tuna Salad at room temperature for extended periods.
