Description
Watermelon Stars are a festive red, white, and blue no-cook snack made with juicy watermelon, white cheddar, and blueberries. They are perfect for Fourth of July cookouts, Memorial Day parties, summer gatherings, and patriotic appetizer trays.
Ingredients
1 medium watermelon
12 ounces white cheddar cheese, cut into cubes
3/4 cup blueberries
American flag toothpicks or decorative picks
Instructions
1. Cut the watermelon into slices about 1 inch thick.
2. Use large and small star-shaped cookie cutters to cut star pieces from the watermelon.
3. Place a cube of white cheddar cheese on each watermelon star.
4. Top each cheese cube with a blueberry.
5. Secure each piece with a decorative toothpick.
6. Chill until ready to serve.
Notes
Recipe yields about 45 pieces, including both large and small stars, though the exact amount depends on watermelon size and cutter dimensions.
Firmer watermelon works best because it holds its shape better and creates less mess.
Extra watermelon scraps can be saved for smoothies, lemonade, cocktails, or snacking.
Watermelon stars and cheese cubes can be prepped a day ahead and stored separately in the refrigerator before assembly.
