Description

Soft, chewy Fireworks Blondies made with brown sugar, red, white, and blue M&M’s, and patriotic sprinkles. Perfect for 4th of July parties, BBQs, potlucks, and summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened or melted

2 cups (400g) packed light brown sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 cups (248g) all-purpose flour

2 cups red, white, and blue M&M’s

1/2 cup patriotic sprinkles

Extra M&M’s for topping, optional

Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×13-inch metal baking pan with foil or parchment paper and coat with cooking spray.

2. Beat butter and brown sugar until combined and crumbly. Mix in eggs and vanilla until smooth.

3. Add salt, baking powder, and flour, stirring until fully incorporated.

4. Fold in M&M’s and sprinkles.

5. Spread batter evenly into the prepared pan. Since the dough is sticky and soft, lightly grease your hands before pressing it into place. Add extra M&M’s on top if desired.

6. Bake for 22 to 25 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden and the center is just set. Slightly underbaking helps keep the blondies soft and chewy. Let cool completely before slicing.

Notes

A metal baking pan is recommended for even baking and proper texture.

The bars continue to firm up as they cool, so avoid overbaking.

Store in an airtight container for up to 4 days.

Freeze for up to 1 to 3 months in a sealed container or freezer bag.

Chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, or peanut butter chips can replace or be combined with the M&M’s.

The batter is thick and sticky, so greasing hands before spreading is helpful.
