Description

Ghost Brownies (Halloween Brownies Recipe) are fudgy brownie squares topped with marshmallow ghosts and smooth white candy coating for a fun Halloween dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

1 box (18 oz) brownie mix, plus the ingredients required on the package

1 bag (10 oz, about 1½ cups) white melting wafers or white candy melts

16 large marshmallows

2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

1. Prepare the brownie batter according to the package directions in a 9×9-inch pan.

2. Let the baked brownies cool completely.

3. Lift the brownies from the pan and cut them into 16 squares.

4. Place the brownie squares on a parchment-lined baking sheet with space between each piece.

5. Melt the white melting wafers as directed on the package.

6. Dip the bottom of each marshmallow into the melted coating.

7. Press one marshmallow onto the center of each brownie.

8. Spoon more melted coating over each marshmallow until fully covered.

9. Let some coating drip naturally over the brownie.

10. Leave the brownies until the coating hardens.

11. Melt the chocolate chips in short microwave intervals, stirring until smooth.

12. Transfer the melted chocolate to a small bag.

13. Snip a tiny corner from the bag.

14. Pipe eyes and a mouth onto each ghost.

15. Let the chocolate set before serving.

Notes

Work quickly while coating the marshmallows so the melted wafers do not harden.

If the coating thickens, mix in 1 teaspoon of shortening or coconut oil and reheat briefly.

Use white melting wafers or candy melts instead of white chocolate chips for a smoother finish and easier coating.

Mini chocolate chips or black decorating gel can be used for the faces if preferred.

Line the pan with parchment paper to make removing and cutting the brownies easier.

Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

In warm conditions, refrigerate the brownies to keep the candy coating firm.
